¹³ She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,^(A)” for she said, “I have now seen^[a] the One who sees me.”^(B)

¹⁶ When Jacob awoke from his sleep,^(A) he thought, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it.”

²⁴ “‘Make an altar^(A) of earth for me and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings^(B) and fellowship offerings, your sheep and goats and your cattle. Wherever I cause my name^(C) to be honored, I will come to you and bless^(D) you.

³⁴ Has any god ever tried to take for himself one nation out of another nation,^(A) by testings,^(B) by signs^(C) and wonders,^(D) by war, by a mighty hand and an outstretched arm,^(E) or by great and awesome deeds,^(F) like all the things the Lord your God did for you in Egypt before your very eyes?

³⁵ You were shown these things so that you might know that the Lord is God; besides him there is no other.^{(G) 36} From heaven he made you hear his voice^(H) to discipline^(I) you. On earth he showed you his great fire, and you heard his words from out of the fire.

³⁹ Acknowledge^(A) and take to heart this day that the Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other.^(B)

Rahab and the Spies

2 Then Joshua son of Nun secretly sent two spies^(A) from Shittim.^(B) “Go, look over^(C) the land,” he said, “especially Jericho.^(D)” So they went and entered the house of a prostitute named Rahab^(E) and stayed there.
